Anastasiia Lapteva is a multidisciplinary artist from Russia, currently based in Helsinki and studying at the Academy of Fine Arts. She works with textiles, photography, and drawing. Currently she is exploring ideas about information, language, and humans’ connections to the world. She joined the Godzilla journey from Karlskrona to Visby.

Lapteva started sailing this year with a student sailing club in Helsinki, and wanted to do more long-distance sailing for a while. She is fascinated by the nomadic life on the sea, and the interpersonal connections and communication of people aboard. During her journey with Godzilla, she was looking for inspirations for a project about the sea and sailing.

She grew up by the Baltic Sea, but had a feeling of not knowing much about it. — “Somehow, my whole life, due to its proximity and coldness, I wasn’t interested in it. Recently, though, as I’ve had the chance to travel around the Baltic Sea and its islands more, I’ve found myself falling in love with it.”
