Jukka Lehtinen is a sculptor and his works are mostly large installed sculptures. He is dealing with feelings and emotions rising mostly from current topics — at the same time he tries not to point directly at them.

Lehtinen joined Godzilla in Fårösund. During the residency he focused on relaxing and becoming open to visions of new possibilities in his artistic practice with no concrete plans.

“I have been sailing in the archipelago for six summers during the last ten years. I grew up inland by the Kymijoki valley and did not have any real contact with the sea earlier.”

He admires the perseverance of pine trees growing in the harsh conditions of the Baltic Sea area. Especially the bonsai-like stunted and squiggly small pine trees seen on the outer islets are to his liking.
