Niclas Warius is a Perniö (Salo) and Helsinki based artist. He joined the Godzilla journey from Visby. In his art he is looking for ways to reveal and awaken empathy, kindness or understanding — he is gently working against hatred. His medias have been photography, installation and video. Still life setups are in his focus as well as the contact surface of natural nature and manmade input in nature.

During the residency he embraced summer, enjoyed co-existence with others and collected input to his art practice. “In order to do good, one needs to be good and do good for oneself. I am also contacting young me who studied photography in Gotland nearly 30 years ago. Things back then appeared easy, straight forward, black and white and not political at all.

He has always lived by the Baltic Sea and have spent a lot of time in it, on it and by it. “I have not lately dealt directly with the Sea in my art practice. The Baltic is there as a safe, respectable and sometimes scary companion in my everyday life. I have been sailing the Baltic for decades but do not currently have access to a boat. Paying attention and doing what I can for Its state and pretty bad condition is of big interest to me.
