Ana Zdravkovic is a visual artist and researcher working with drawing, painting, and installation. Her practice explores the hidden structures of nature, focusing on small, often overlooked organisms and their ecological roles. Ana loves exploring the intersection of art and science, and is particularly interested in interdisciplinary collaboration as a way of expanding perspectives.

So far, Ana’s art has been focusing on small scale land organisms, such as lichens and mosses. She wants to expand her research area to the marine environment. While on board Godzilla, she will explore the Baltic Sea’s plankton, tiny yet vital organisms that form the foundation of life in the ocean. Ana’s goal is to create a collection of enlarged visual studies of plankton species, which could serve as the start of a broader body of work on marine micro-ecologies.
“I haven’t spent much time at the Baltic Sea before, so I am very excited to have the opportunity to get to know it better, and its biodiversity. It is a unique, semi-enclosed marine environment, low in salinity and vulnerable to climate change and pollution, which makes it an interesting subject for artistic exploration. As someone whose work is driven by observation of small-scale ecological processes, I see the Baltic Sea as a space full of potential, visually and conceptually. I look forward to learning from its ecosystems, connecting with those who study and protect it, and deepening my relationship with the sea through lived experience, creative practice, and collaboration.”
