Jonas Palekas (LT)

Jonas Palekas is a chef who by accident ended up in the art world – which he prefers compared to the restaurant world. Now he’s cooking less and reading as well as writing about food more. He also organises people around the topics of food.

On the board of Godzilla Jonas will mainly be observing things, chatting with people, maybe trying to cook a dish, reading an article and trying to write a short text on how he would imagine a good sailors diet. However, his leg is in the open sea and as it sometimes likes to be wavy, so the plans are flexible.

“The Baltic Sea. First and  immediate thought is quite sentimental, cosy boredomness of going to this huge sandy mass of water in another side of Lithuania with my family every year for a holiday. This, I am sure, built a good foundation for future interactions. Later, while traveling  around and through it, observing nature and meeting human inhabitants on its shores, I developed less of a  sentimental, but rather very pragmatic interest and started to notice huge cultural – anthropological as well as ecosystemic –  logic which connects the whole region. Its  plants, animals, scapes and off course, most importantly, its foods.”
